Currently probably the only working water-powered sawmill in Scotland.
The Kirkdale sawmill is driven by an overshot water-wheel and dates from the early 1800's. It was used as an estate sawmill and joiners' shop until the 1970's.
It has recently been restored with a new sloping roof over the saw bench, replacing the previous pitched roof. The mill dam, sluice gate, and lade have also been repaired.
Open April to September Monday 10am to 4pmAdmission £2 adults, 50p children.
Opening for groups at other times and during winter months by
appointment (see contact).
